The construction of a trade union movement capable to cope with the social, economic and political problems which arise in this new stage of the life of mankind, is a pending task faced by the National Association of Journalists from Peru (Asociación Nacional de Periodistas del Perú), as representative organization of salaried, self-managed and codetermined press workers, said Roberto Mejía Alarcón in the solemn session that took place on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the ANP-Iquitos.
The President of the historic institution pointed out that, for this purpose, criticism and self-criticism should be promoted, as a method to know the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing social communicators in their daily work, while at the same time, a daily practice of solidarity, unity and fraternity in each and every worker should be prevail.
He stressed that the fraternity and solidarity are fundamental and urgent in these times of political and economic crisis, and therefore indispensable for constituting values for the performance of the workers.
He also stated that to in order to have a brotherhood and human solidarity there must be clear awareness of the dialogue, justice and health ethics of personal life, as well as the promotion of the dignity of the human being, the capacity for participation and sharing.
At the same time the attendees of the ceremony of the 52nd anniversary of the ANP Iquitos, agreed that the proper use of the word best achieved its purpose if it offers all the possibilities of reciprocal exchanges and that the media should contribute to strengthen the justice, particularly for those who need to make their voice heard.
