FSB Nikeuba appoints Carlos Rajagukguk as new president

From 01 – 03 December 2019 the The FSB Nikeuba organized its 6th National Congress in the city of Bandung, Indonesia. The theme of the congress was ‘The Creative Workers Movement Facing the Future of Work’. The Congress started with a seminar on building networks in multinational companies. The opening ceremony was attended by 500 FSB Nikeuba members from Bandung and surrounding areas.

Different to the 5th National Congress of the FSB Nikeuba, which took place in Pekanbaru in 2015, this time there was no voting for the position of president and secretary general. All delegations agreed to appoint Carlos Rajagukguk as president for the period 2019 – 2023. Previously Carlos Rajagukguk acted as secretary general. The former president Dwi Harto Hanggono was appointed by acclamation as secretary general.

Roel Rotshuizen, representing the World Organization of Workers – WOW, gave an opening speech. In his remarks Roel said that FSB Nikeuba has a special place in WOW and in WOW Asia. It was in 2004 in Medan when WOW took the decision that it was better to go on as an independent international trade federation and not be part of the new structure of the GUF’s.

The atmosphere during the days of the congress was outstanding and showed true comradery. The people openly discussed with each other, listened to each other, and were willing to look for compromises.

The WOW congratulates FSB Nikeuba with the positive outcome of the congress and wishes the new board a lot of success.
