After nine (9) years the Serbian RS BOFOS finally becomes a member of the European Centre for Workers’ Questions (EZA). In 2012 then SS BOFOS applied for membership for the first time. Back then this was not granted. But this did not stop the trade union in the financial sector to continue trying. Then in 2015 SS BOFOS was granted Observer Status. So not full membership as such, but a serious first step was taken. Immediately after SS BOFOS became more involved in the EZA activities, and since then members of the BOFOS bodies as Mara Erdelj as president, participated in numerous events and activities. Most predominantly the EZA Special Project for the Western Balkan.
Every opportunity was used to affirm SS BOFOS as a well-organized, proactive union that is profiled as an equal partner to employers and a true employee representative. SS BOFOS strongly upholds the Social Christian values and as such gained a very high reputation by consistently defending and advocating its membership persistently and devotedly with strong arguments and support.
Earlier this year SS BOFOS changed its name to RS BOFOS. This was the result of its departure from the Serbian national confederation CATUS.
And now, finally, after nine (9) years the EZA Council, as the competent body of the European Centre for Workers‘ Questions, dealt with the application for full membership within EZA once again. This request was discussed during the EZA Council meeting in Paestum, Italy on 29 October 2021. During this meeting the Council followed the proposal of the EZA Daily Board to award full membership status to RS BOFOS.
