For more social justice and secure jobs in Germany and Europe – under this motto, delegates from all state associations of the Christian Metalworkers’ Union – CGM (Christliche Gewerkschaft Metall) gathered for their Congress in Bad Kissingen from 25 to 26 October 2019. Reiner Jahns was elected as the new federal chairman. He is assisted by Tatjana Roeder and Andreas Bemerl as deputies.
The new team of three at the top stands together in content as well as conceptually for a dynamic advancement in the work of the CGM. Making union work more effective, transparent and successful is the declared goal of the new CGM leadership. Each of the three colleagues in the leadership team will be responsible for an important part of the union’s work.
Reiner Jahns will be responsible for the work related to membership. The focus will increasingly be on supporting existing members and gain more colleagues as new members. Tatjana Roeder will look after the division of tariff work. The goal is to further professionalize the tariff work of the CGM. This is vital for all union members and those wanting to become one. Andreas Bemerl will be responsible for the youth work of the CGM. His area of responsibility will be to get more young committed colleagues enthusiastic about trade union work in the CGM. In order to achieve this goal with lasting success, the CGM must be adequately represented in social media in the future. Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, twitter. The own CGM YouTube channel and a cleverly designed CGM APP with integrated fee calculator have already been realized and today are considered obvious for modern and informative trade union work. Under the chairmanship of Andreas Bemerl, the state association Baden-Württemberg has already realized a lot of exemplary achievements here.
The members of the new leadership team invite all CGM colleagues to work with them to make the necessary transition to a successful trade union future.
