Recalling the historic weight of May 1st has always been a attitude of reflection related to what the past offers us as a lesson, the present presents as challenges and, in particular, the future can be designed based on what we are able to learn from each lived experience. In this 2020, in the midst of one of the most serious health crisis that humanity has faced, with the new coronavirus and the various questions that have so far been left unanswered, thinking about tomorrow has become a much greater and more urgent need.
The Latin-American Federation of Workers in Banks and Finances – FELATRABS (Federación Latinoamericana de Trabajadores Bancarios de Seguros y Afines), embracing the understanding of what the universally dedicated date means to the worker, in his class and human perspective, reinforces the line that it has always adopted, taking advantage of the anniversary, to raise awareness, mobilize and discuss. In the new reality, unfortunately, the difficulties have increased.
What does not change, whatever the circumstance, is the commitment of the FELATRABS to defend the interests and priorities of the group of workers in the financial and banking sector. Attacks on our rights intensified with the atmosphere of economic deterioration resulting from the deep crisis in the health sector, but, it inspires us that the episode of 129 years ago which we today remember as a historical reference, we remain and will remain, standing, in the struggle, facing each new threat that arises against those we represent. It comforts us to know that we are on the side of truth and justice.
Happy and conscious May 1st for everyone. And, faith in the future, always!
