Dear colleagues of WOW, dear friends,
I am very pleased that the General Board of WOW elected our friend Wayne Prins from CLAC Canada as the new president until the next congress in 2021.
During the last congress in 2016 we elected a new chairman, but due to circumstances he had to resign after one year.
At the request of the board I have been acting president for a year, with the intention of finding a new candidate as soon as possible. Well that mission has been successful.
I have been president of WOW from 1995 – 2016. That is quite a long time. It is good that there is now a new leader of WOW. Not only for the General Board, but also for the European Board, where Wolfgang Pissinger is the chairperson now after the resignation of Günther Trausnitz.
I will remain a member and advisor of the European Board and the General Board for the coming years. The latest until the congress of 2021. And even though I will be more in the background in the coming years I will of course remain available to fulfill tasks within the WOW.
And of course I hope to continue meeting you in the coming years during trade union actions and at seminars and conferences. In your own continent or in Europe.
Together we will continue working in order to make the WOW even stronger than it is today.
